Fire Hazard Recall on General on Electric®-brand 12-cup coffee makers

These coffee makers were sold at Walmart stores nationwide from March 2008 through January 2010 for about $30. Model numbers included in the recall are 169164 (black) and 169165 (white)

These coffee makers have been reported to pose a danger in the potential to overheat, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that Walmart has received 83 reports of overheating, smoking, melting, burning and fire associated with these coffee makers. This includes three reports of minor burn injuries and reports of property damage that includes a significant kitchen fire and damage to counters, cabinets and a wall.
