Cold is bad for the joints

The cold weather that we have been having to contend with here in Alaska is bad enough, but when it causes joint pain to flare up it is twenty times worse. Those who suffer from certain kinds of arthritis know only too well just how miserable it can be to try to live in the cold weather. There are multiple treatments for arthritis that range from medications to natural treatments that can help ease the pain associated with winter cold joint pain flare ups.

The change in barometric pressure that occurs when temperature drops quickly is the actual cause of joint pain rather than the cold itself, which is why in come cases (such as when there is swelling) the application of cold can aid in reducing joint pain. If there is no swelling then a heat compress can help to reduce the pain.
