Flooding and snakes

In a May 17th forecast the National Weather Service 's River Forecast Center predicted that the Mississippi river would crest sooner from Baton Rouge through New Orleans than upstream from those locations.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has opened three floodways in an effort to ease flooding to highly populated areas.

Something that caught my eye in the reports I saw in the news was that residents are being instructed in how to avoid snake bites. As if being flooded out of your home is not enough, you have pissed off snakes looking to take out their own annoyance at being flooded out.
