Pentagon Certified: Military is ready for repeal

On Friday President Barack Obama, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen certified that the U.S. Military is prepared to accept openly gay and lesbian service members. And, according to the White House, doing so will not cause any harm to the readiness of the U.S. Military.

There is still a sixty day wait period before the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is fully implemented, but this is another step toward equality in the military for everyone. All three men, President Obama, Def. Sec. Panetta, and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Adm. Mullen, had to sign the certification that confirmed the military's readiness to accept integration following the passage of the bill last year that began the controversial repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".
